36/365 Movement

Leo and Louie were playing on the couch this morning and I tried to capture that motion in a photograph. But as soon as I half-press the shutter-release one of them gives me this look as if to say "Quit that and get away from here!" So... I pressed the button and quit. Here's today's entry. LOL

#DS425: Let's play with movement today. Get a shot of something in motion. Freeze it or let it blur. It's up to you!

35/365 Literally...

#DS424: Illustrate one of the various meanings of the word tag today in a photograph.

I am blaming my wonderful girl-friends for this backlog. But you know what? I had the grandest time hanging out with them yesterday --- just chatting, talking shop, learning and watching photography dvds --- all while eating pizza and chili at Nancy's house.

This shot below is supposedly a "test shot"...  I just cracked up when I downloaded the photos to LR3 and saw their crazy expressions.

And then Nancy said she wants a "wacky shot". So we tried over and over again until we got this:

And finally, here's a decent photo...

We come from different backgrounds and age groups but we all have this indescribable connection to each other and we share one great passion for photography.  No amount of distance can break this friendship I have with them. They are just wonderful, wonderful people.

34/365 Old, Shiny Tick Tock!

#DS423: Make a photograph of something shiny or glossy, but not transparent. Emphasize the effect of the surface.

Made some extra photos for today too.

And meet my in laws' new baby, Leo.

They actually have a newer kitty, named Louie. He looks just like Leo but with white spots on his face.  I haven't had the chance to take a picture of him yet but I will post it in the next few days.  They are such cute subjects!

33/365 Flow

#DS422: Make a photograph today that features or uses a liquid as a subject.

I was on the road nearly 9 hours yesterday. My whole body was shaking from exhaustion. But I managed to do my assignment. The disappointing part was that I didn't even bother checking my photo until I uploaded everything today. So NO, this isn't one of my favorite shots.

32/365 For the Love of Music

#DS421: Create a photograph today that illustrates or shows rhythm.

32/365 Create a photograph today that illustrates or shows rhythm.

I hate that my little one is starting to outgrow this cute thing...

I'll be traveling the whole day tomorrow --- and if bad storm hits us on the road, well then make it 2 days. (Uggh!) But I'll try to shoot something along the way. I just can't guarantee if I'd be able to post anything until we get to our destination.

My photography group in Chesapeake has scheduled an entire day of photowalk on Saturday --- from sunrise all the way thru nightshots. Whew! I'll be needing a lot of memory cards. And I mean A LOT!

See you soon, friends!!!

31/365 Just 11 Months To Go!

It's so bright and sunny out. So I thought I should just shoot against the light to create the shadows in my photo. I know this LOVE thing is cheesy. But hey, the point is to pick up the camera and figure out how to use it in different light settings, right?? ;)

Shadows and low key. Hmmm. I kinda like it...

But I think I like this one better. Or maybe not. I'm torn. What do you think?

#DS420: Embrace the shadows today and make a photograph dominated by dark tones, also known as a low-key image.

Both photos were shot using an 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens at 18mm, 1/100secs, f/10, ISO200
